Games Rules

·    Two periods of 10 minutes and 3rd period – 12 minutes.

  • Each team will play a minimum of three (3) games, with a two (2)-minute break between periods.

  • If two teams wear jerseys of the same color, the home team will change jerseys.

  • If there is a five (5)-goal difference, the game will proceed with running time after the second period. For statistical purposes, if there is a seven (7)-goal difference, the winning team will be credited with a victory of no more than seven (7) goals.

  • There will be no sudden death during regular schedule games in case of a tie.

  • Each team is allowed one timeout per game.

  • The ice surface will be flooded after two (2) periods of play. The organizing committee or arena staff may choose to skip flooding if games are running behind schedule.

  • Decisions made by the referee in charge cannot be overturned by a member of the organizing committee.

  • If a team fails to show up for its scheduled game, for any reason (including snowstorms), it will forfeit the game to the opposing team, with a score of 5-0 awarded.

U11 Rec Division

  • A round-robin tournament will be organized with two groups of 5 teams each.

  • The groups were formed randomly.

  • Each team will play a total of 4 games.

  • Only the top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.

U11 B, U13 Rec, U13 Comp

·    Each team, except the home team, will play 3 games.

  • The home team will play 4 games, with one game being eliminated at the end of the round-robin tournament.

  • If a team is required to play one more game than another team in its division during the round-robin tournament (due to an uneven number of teams), the following procedure will be followed to determine its ranking:

  • Once the 4th game has been played, the tournament committee will invite the home team’s coach and any available coaches at that time to meet in the office to determine which game will not be counted.

  • The committee will place the numbers 1 to 4 in a hat, and the tournament chairperson will draw a number at random in front of the other coaches.

  • The number drawn by the chairperson will determine the game that will be excluded for the team that played 4 games.

Elimination Round

Elimination games (finals, semi-finals, etc.) will follow the same rules as the round-robin games, except if the game is tied at the end of regulation. The following procedure will be followed until a winner is determined:

  • Teams will remain on the same side, and play will continue with a five (5)-minute sudden-death overtime period.
  • If the game is still tied at the end of overtime, a three-player shootout will be held to determine a winner.
    • A player serving a penalty at the end of the overtime period will not be eligible to participate in the shootout.
    • The goaltender cannot be changed during the shootout unless due to injury.
    • The visiting team will shoot first.
    • If the score remains tied after the first three shooters, a sudden-death shootout (one skater each) will continue until a winner is determined.
    • All skaters on the bench must take a turn before any player is allowed to shoot a second time.
  • The semi-finals and the finals will be 3 periods of 12 minutes.

Ice Schedule

  • Regular Schedule: The ice surface will be resurfaced after every two periods or as determined by the arena staff based on conditions.
